Week 35 of 40
Head Down
This week your baby is about the size of
Honeydew melon
18.2 in ยท 5.3 lb
Your Baby This Week
Most babies have settled into a head-down position by now. Kidneys are fully developed. The liver can process some waste. Baby is running out of room and movements feel different, more rolling and pushing than kicking.
Your Body This Week
If baby has 'dropped' (lightening), you may breathe easier but feel more pelvic pressure. Frequent urination intensifies. Nesting instincts may peak.
Good to Do Now
Get your Group B Strep test (usually done weeks 35-37). Finalize your postpartum support: meals, help, visitors policy. Rest whenever possible.
The Tools for This Week
Line up your after care now: a lactation consultant and a postpartum doula are the two calls new parents are gladdest they made early.
