Your Baby This Week

Your baby can hear your voice clearly and may respond to it with movement. Rapid eye movements have begun. Lungs are developing surfactant, the substance that will help them breathe air after birth.

Your Body This Week

Your uterus is about 1.5 inches above your belly button. You may feel clumsy as your center of gravity shifts. Gums may be sensitive or bleed when brushing.

Good to Do Now

Keep up your dental hygiene. Pregnancy gingivitis is common. Read or talk to your baby. Build a playlist of music to play for them.

The second trimester is prime time to meet birth doulas. Interview two or three while calendars are still open.
