Your Baby This Week

Your baby's eyes are opening for the first time. They can see light and dark. Lungs are continuing to mature. Brain wave activity for hearing and sight is detectable. The immune system is absorbing your antibodies.

Your Body This Week

You may feel baby hiccups (rhythmic, repetitive movements). Braxton Hicks may be more frequent. You might experience headaches or vision changes.

Good to Do Now

Report any sudden swelling, severe headaches, or vision changes to your provider immediately, as these can be signs of preeclampsia.

The second trimester is prime time to meet birth doulas. Interview two or three while calendars are still open.
