Your Baby This Week

The musculoskeletal system is maturing. Your baby can make coordinated movements. The circulatory and urinary systems are fully functioning. Toenails are beginning to grow.

Your Body This Week

Some women feel 'quickening,' the first fetal movements, described as flutters or bubbles. Backache may begin as your center of gravity shifts.

Good to Do Now

Pay attention for those first movements. Second-time moms often feel them earlier. Wear supportive shoes and consider a belly support band if needed.

The second trimester is prime time to meet birth doulas. Interview two or three while calendars are still open.
